The cartoon world has never really been the same after Calvin and Hobbes, Bill Watterson’s amazing comic strip. Oh there are some good comics out there: Foxtrot (now only on Sundays), Baby Blues, Zits. But nothing seems to capture that wonderful childhood wonder and adventure quite like Calvin and Hobbes.

But I’ve found a comic strip that is amazingly cute, uproariously hillarious, all with a good mix of the absurd. If you have not discovered it yet, please point your browsers to Little Dee. Chris Baldwin, an illustrator for MAD Magazine, puts out an almost daily stream, excepting Sunday, of Little Dee strips. Ted, a huge, lovable bear lives in a cave with Blake, the naive, runaway dog and Vatchel, the cunning and scheming vulture. Add into this volatile and already comical mix a lost, non-speaking girl, Little Dee, and you end up with a great comic strip. Little Dee’s not mute – she makes noises…she just doesn’t speak. The comic strip follows various adventures such as trying to find Little Dee’s parents, going on vacation to get rid of Vatchel’s cabin fever (resulting in larger messes and adventures), Halloween parties that go very awry, a romantically confused alligator who falls for Blake the dog… But why should I be telling you all this? Buy the books! At the very least check out the strip!

I like their layered pop sound as heard on the tracks titled “Beautiful One” and “Marching Machine”. And they perform in suits! Classy. They have nice tunes and I like their sound.
